The Actors’ Improv with Kelly Delaney |
|
Scared of Improvisation? Ever see those quick-witted actors and say, “Gosh. I wish I could do that?” Well, now you can! Improvisation is one of the oldest forms of the acting art, and is a skill that enhances every aspect of your career. From scripted auditions and cold reads, to working on set or on stage, improv develops the ability to think on your feet and walk the actors’ path with confidence. Improv is all about knowing the rules, and this class gives you the foundation you need to enhance your comedic career, or just your confidence. This fast paced, eight-week class teaches you everything you need to know about games, long form, and applying improv to everyday acting situations, and can build your confidence for public speaking and presentations. Win Friends and Influence People! Okay, well, at least become a better actor! Class culminates in a live improv performance, with an audience, in the new Sketchworks Theatre.

Advanced Workshop Group with Brian Bremer |
|
Come on and get silly! Explore a side of yourself most performers rarely get to develop, and find new, bankable skills. You’ll be able to do anything those commercial casting directors ask of you. Stretch your abilities and have some fun! You know the phrase, "you are enough"? Now, you can chew that expression up and spit it out with the rest of the scenery! Through improvisational techniques and character development exercises, you'll create larger-than-life characters that are perfect for sketch comedy.
In this ongoing workshop, led by Sketchworks actor and writer Brian Bremer, you'll develop "stock" characters you can plug into any situation. Expanding on the exercises and techniques learned in Intro to Sketch, you will explore the origins of comedy with an emphasis on scene work.
Build your confidence and willingness to take big risks, expand your improv & audition skills, think on your feet to create instant characters and polish your comedic timing.
The class works toward a live showcase, publicized and performed in conjunction with the current Sketchworks show. Members of the advanced class are also utilized when there is a need for additional cast. Be considered first for guest appearances in Sketchworks shows!
