Writing Sketch Comedy [Advanced Workshop]


Intro to Sketch Comedy Writing Get serious about being funny and sign up for Sketchworks' Intro to Sketch Comedy Writing led by Robin Henry.(Sketchworks writer/actor, award winning writer for Sketchworks Films, and writer for Tyler Perry Studios) You’ll learn the different genres of sketch comedy, collaborate with other writers in a workshop environment, write material each week to fire your imagination, work with an experienced comedy writer and realize your full writing potential. This class is open to anyone with the desire to write and your sketch could be produced in a Sketchworks show!

Advanced Writers' Workshop An 8 week collaborative writing workshop with Jen Kelley. (Charter Sketchworks member, co-producer, director, performer and head writer. She is also the co-author of The Actors' Guide for Kids, and contributes a regular column to Arts & Expression magazine) This workshop takes the basics learned in the intro class and puts them into action! Writers will collaborate in "writers group" and see their sketches workshopped by actors and, ultimately, performed in a live, two night Sketch Showcase performed by the Master Workshop Group, directed by Brian Bremer. Writers from this group are considered first when additional material is needed for the Sketchworks Mainstage. This is a class for disciplined writers serious about writing sketch comedy.
