JULY - SESSION TWO
Sketchworks is offering a 'choose your own adventure' style virtual camp. Pick and choose from classes (acting, character and writing) or take all three for a discounted price!  We're offering an additional Basics of Video Editing class, too!

Sketch Comedy Writing
with John D. Babcock III

Campers will spruce up their comedy writing skills with our Head Writer John D. Babcock III and learn helpful techniques for writing comedy. Campers will:

• learn correct script formatting
• learn the difference between writing for film and writing for stage
• mimic an actual writer’s room (just like the adults do it!)
• write their own original sketches

Sketch Acting with Kirsten Krehbiel

It’s time to break down the art of Comedy Acting and Coach Kirsten is ready to whip these campers into shape. Campers will:

• play improv and character games
• read through scripts written by our Sketchworks Kids Writers and Sketchworks Writers
• practice comedy techniques and comedic timing
• watch and breakdown filmed and stage performances

Solo Sketch Character with Tom von Dohlen

Dive in deeper with character study with Coach Tom as your guide! It’s time to dust off those cat ears and clown shoes and start creating your own Sketch Character. Who knows...maybe your parents will even let you raid their closet from some retro costume pieces. Campers will:

• create their own sketch comedy characters
• write their own monologue or host bit
• perform their solo pieces for the class and share them on our social media page

Video Editing Basics with Tom von Dohlen (Ages 10-17)

For the first time ever, Sketchworks is offering a Video Editing Class for our students! Coach Tom will be walking Campers through basic editing techniques with a focus on capturing the humor of a scene. Campers will:

• learn basic editing skills and observe Coach Tom with screen share
• learn basic filming techniques
• film their own comedy and host bits to practice editing
• learn editing techniques for specific YouTube/Comedy videos

It is preferable for students to have access to Adobe Premiere. Adobe Premiere offers a one-week free trial, so we would suggest taking advantage of that during the second week. However, it is not required to have Adobe Premiere. If students are familiar with another editing software, they will still be able to learn techniques for how to edit pieces together to crank up the comedy.
