Intro to Sketch Comedy Writing

Here's how classes work -- signing up for this event will reserve your space. Once we have enough people interested to offer the virtual class, we will schedule it around the availability of everyone who is interested.

Intro to Sketch Writing will be 2 hours a week for 6 weeks and costs $175.
Collaborate with other writers in a workshop environment

Write, read and discuss material to stoke your imagination

Work with an experienced sketch comedy writer

Realize your full writing potential

From new writers, unsure how to go about turning their thousand ideas into comedy, to practiced writers who just wants to grow or improve their craft, this class provides the opportunity to turn out funny, completed sketches.

The final day of class is devoted to a live table read with feedback provided by Mainstage Sketchworks Cogs.

Some students may even have the chance to write for Sketchworks’ stage productions and videos!

To reserve a spot for this class, we require a $1 holding fee. A link to pay the remaining balance will be sent when the class dates are officially scheduled.

John's comedy career began when he was a kid.  He and his friends would write and perform sketches for neighbors in his backyard. John joined Sketchworks Comedy in January 2017 as a cast member of LAUGHTER REHAB.

In addition to writing and performing for Sketchworks, John writes murder mystery plays for Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem at Petite Violette and the Mystery Café of Indianapolis.  He also contributed on-air scripts to Turner Classic Movies - having  written for the late Robert Osborne, and Ben Mankiewicz.  His play INDEPENDENT, about filmmaker John Cassavetes, received its world premiere at Essential Theatre's 2017 Summer Festival.

John is a loving and dedicated husband and father who drives a sensible car and has no pets.

No refunds for shows. If you have an emergency, please let us know within 48 hours of show date for ticket purchased. We will exchange your ticket for a different date or hold for a different show, as long as seats are available.
